Welcome to 529 Arts
529 Arts stands at the heart of the global art gallery community, recognized for its pivotal role in shaping Chelsea into the world-renowned art district it is today. Originally designed as a warehouse, the building was transformed into a multi-gallery hub in 1996 under the leadership of Anne-Brigitte Sirois, working alongside a select group of influential gallerists, including Stefan Stux, Bill Maynes, Paul Judelson, Lance Kinz, John Weber, and Frank Maresca. This visionary transformation attracted 18 of the first 24 galleries that established Chelsea as the epicenter of contemporary art.
Since then, 529 Arts has been home to some of New York City’s most influential galleries. Its tenants have shaped visual narratives, influenced development, and played a vital role in elevating Chelsea’s reputation as a leading cultural destination. Today, 529 Arts remains a dynamic hub for creativity, housing a diverse community of top-tier galleries and creative enterprises.
Recent developments
In May 2022, 529 Arts was acquired by Eagle Point Properties. Building on its rich legacy, the company invested nearly six million dollars in renovations, elevating the building’s design and introducing new amenities to meet the evolving needs of today’s creative culture. These upgrades reinforce a commitment to both architectural excellence and functional innovation, ensuring 529 Arts reaches new heights as a premier destination for galleries and creative professionals.
Paving the way for arts collaboration
On January 22, 2025, Eagle Point Properties unveiled two exclusive new amenities: The Private Lounge, a state-of-the-art space designed to foster adaptability and high-level engagement, and The Curator Lab, a dynamic exhibition venue dedicated to curatorial projects. These initiatives have been brought to life in collaboration with Anne-Brigitte Sirois of Art State LLC, whose expertise in gallery real estate development and community planning continues to shape Chelsea’s cultural landscape.
A third initiative, The Viewing Room, is set to debut in fall 2025. This additional and complementary amenity will feature private art storage lockers, dedicated viewing galleries, and an open viewing wall—offering art professionals an unparalleled combination of functionality and sophistication.
Together, The Private Lounge, The Curator Lab, and The Viewing Room seamlessly integrate elegance with purpose, creating a complete business environment that supports the creative and professional ambitions of the global art gallery community.
